Piedmontese composer from San Benigno Canavese, general of the Bersaglieri, author of operas and operettas, as well as romances. From the 1840s had a distinguished military career, and his house in Turin latterly became a refuge for poor creatives to whom he donated the proceeds of his copyrights of the parallel career as a composer.
