According to Fétis, Plane was a harpist and professor of Harmony born in Paris in 1774, who became known from 1798 to 1827 for 30 works or so for the harp comprising 8 sonatas, 3 volumes of studies, 10 of Fantasias, nocturnes and variations. These self-published works eventually came under the ownership of Richault. Date of death is uncertain. In 1809 he published a harp method based on the lessons and written instructions he had had received from Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz shortly before the latter's tragic demise.
