- Natalia Pispini (Skvortsova) is a composer of contemporary classical music. She was born in the former USSR. Her professional path consists of piano studies in childhood, musicology studies in college, further musicology studies and specialization in ethnomusicology in conservatory, doctoral degree, fieldwork recordings, work in archives and research laboratories on traditional music, as well as teaching Music, Arts and Humanities courses at various levels. In 2014, she started composing her own music. Some of her music compositions are deeply rooted in Russian cultural heritage. For other works, there is an influence of Western musical traditions, classical and popular. She received great inspirations while living many years in Greece and the Middle East, and that provides her with new ideas, images and tunes. She is passionate about reviewing music composing techniques developed in the past. At the same time, she has a special concern to embrace contemporary approaches, and she likes to experiment with new music structures, scales, rhythms and polyphony schemes.
