Perhaps father of Ecuadorian composer Luis Pauta (described as son of someone named Ascencio Pauta, anyway, and born 1858? See
Encyclopedia of Ecuador.) However, another site gives Ascencio's vitals as 1880–1955; yet two other sources give "19th century to 1917". (Erm- in any case, where does "1899" as a clear and date-certain death year come from?)
