Dutch composer, born in Amsterdam, mainly active in Brussels (fl. 1900-1920), composing popular piano music and songs. Founder of the publishing house "Maison Musicale Moderne"/"Office Musical" (Brussels).

- Exact death date is unknown, but according to the 1936 Catalog of Copyright Entries (p.700, Entry 366), W.J. Paans was no longer alive on April 26, 1936. And according to another source, he was already deceased by 1931.
