Ole Tobias Nelson Jr., Norwegian-American second generation immigrant, born in Hendrum, Minnesota. Active in the 1910s ragtime scene, Nelson Jr. published the song "Red Rock" in 1913. Son of O. T. Nelson and Anne Jakobsen Nelson, who were born in the Lyngdal and Vestre Slidre communes of Norway, respectively. His parents immigrated to the United States in the 1860s.
Nelson Jr. moved across the northern United States, and was known to reside in towns such as Atwater, Minnesota, Stanley, North Dakota, Salem, Oregon, and Portland, Oregon, where he died in 1973. He married his wife Nellie Olivia Anderson in 1906, and had at least six children, Oliver (Oleve) Terrence (b. circa 1908), Lorraine (Loraene) Bertha (b. 1909), Howard S. (b. circa 1912), Marjorie (Margery) Louise (b. circa 1914), Leslie Bertram (b. circa 1915), and Charlotte Ardith (b. 1920).
Nelson Jr. registered for the World War II draft on 27 April 1942, while living in Stanley, ND and working at the County Welfare Board. Described as "ruddy" with blue eyes, he stood at 5 feet 9 inches tall and 148 pounds at that time.
