Born Striegau (German name, in what soon became Germany, pre-unification)/Strzegom (now in Poland). Died Charlottenburg, Germany. Not to be confused with his contemporary Arnold Mendelssohn (Arnold Ludwig Mendelssohn) (1855—1933)
