Caveat seems in order- Alan Walker (musicologist, born 1930, Liszt Society medalist) seems to regard much of the work of La Mara/Lipsius , whether her editing (which he regards as overly selective and expurgative) or her biographical writing if I recall, as to be taken carefully. It is provided however as at the least, necessary background that not only can but should be read by people interested in her subjects, along with more recent writing (much of which cannot yet be hosted on this site but hopefully available at your public library.)
