Bruno Lima (b. 1996 in Maceió) is a Brazilian cellist and composer. He began solfège lessons at four with his father but only started playing the cello at 16. Before that, he played alto saxophone in his hometown church and immersed himself in Brazilian popular music and jazz, gaining familiarity with improvisation and jazz harmony. His early interest in arranging led to a passion for orchestration, traditional harmony, and counterpoint.
Bruno is an active performer and composer in Europe and South America, praised for his tone quality, inspired artistry, and versatility in both classical and popular music. His works have been featured at international festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, Edinburgh International Festival, Järna Festival Academy, Ilumina Festival, Fränkischer Sommer, and CelloFest.
He has collaborated with renowned musicians like Tai Murray, Julian Steckel, Yura Lee, Jennifer Stumm, Liza Ferschtman, Anthony Marwood, Christian Poltéra, and Lars Anders Tomter. He is the founding cellist of the Ruska String Quartet and has a duo with Finnish guitarist Otto Kentala. In 2018, Bruno won two national competitions in Brazil. Lima holds a bachelor's degree in music from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
