Belgian composer, teacher at the Brussels Conservatoire, and chansonnier, son of Victor Lefèvre.
In his early years he wrote a few opéras(-comiques).
Between 1890 and 1900, he was active as artist-performer on the Paris cabaret scene (i.a. in the Chat-Noir).
His birth name is Maurice Lefèvre, but, on arrival in Paris, he adopted Marcel Lefèvre as his artist name, to avoid confusion with the French author and playwright Maurice Lefèvre (1857-1915).
