Violinist, member of Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra 1814-66
Member of a long dynasty of musicians, mainly based in Saxony, active from the mid 18th to mid 20th century. His grandchildren included the cellist Julius Klengel (1859—1933) and violinist Engelbert Röntgen (1829—1897).
