Husband of pianist Katharine Goodson (1872–1958) from 1903 until his death. (Also: his first symphony is in B♭, not B major as claimed in the link above. (N.B. in German notation, "B" is B-flat. "H" is B-natural)) Born in Beckenham, Kent, Hinton studied violin with Prosper Sainton and Sauret, and composition under F. W. Davenport, at the Royal Academy, London. In the late 1890s he studied with Rheinberger in Munich, where his symphony was performed. He later went to Vienna and Rome. His works were played in London from 1900.
