Italian maestro di musica, music theoretician, teacher, translator.
Born in Napoli est.1806 (age 28 at birth of daughter Diamira in 1834), active in Milano ca. 1835-1850, moved to Firenze in 1866, still living there in 1871 (at marriage of son Ercole).
Inventor of an alternative music notation system (La Riforma musicale, 1840), with little success.
In 1878 several British newspapers mention a "new system for teaching music to blind people", developed by Emanuele Gambale of Naples, now a resident of Florence; so probably still alive in 1878.
Brother of the composer Luigi Gambale (or at least close relative).
