He was a distinguished pianist and teacher. As a chamber musician he succeded Artur Schnabel (1882—1951) in the Schnabel-Flesch-Becker Trio in 1920 and continued until 1932. He often performed with Fritz Kreisler and had a piano trio (1937-) with Daniel Karpilowsky (1896-1976, member of Guarneri Quartet 1925 to 34) and cellist Felix Salmond (1888—1952).
