- Based on the small information from the dedications Della-Tolla studied at the conservatory in Palermo, his teacher was Pietro Platania (1828-1907), he became teacher in Palermo and went to Constantinople.
- According to the dedication of the Marche Funebre 'Hommage de Respect et de profonde Vénération à la douce mémoire de l'Illustre et Immortel Bartolomeo Pisani' (Tribute to Respect and Deep Reverence to the Sweet Memory of the Illustrious and Immortal Bartolomeo Pisani), he must have known Pisani (1811-1876).
