Some fragmentary articles about him can be seen in Eduard Fack's "Materialien zu einer Geschichte der Guitarre und ihre Meister mit Abbildungen, 1884". According to it, he was born in 1807 in Seville. He visitted Berlin in 1859 on a performance trip and held several concerts there.
He spent long years in Milan and London. In his last years he taraveled sickly from London to Dresden via Leipzig, where he finally settled. Although it is written that he died in the fall of 1840, that year is inconsistent.
