Korean-American pianist Hyunjung Rachel Chung, winner of the 2020 Ernest Bacon Award from the American Prize, has established herself as a versatile performer, educator, adjudicator, recording artist, and composer. Dedicated to promoting contemporary music and the works of neglected and forgotten composers, Chung has recorded award-winning albums featuring piano works by women composers: My Cherished Garden: Piano Works by American Women Composers (2017) and Three Piano Sonatas by Women Composers (2018). Her latest album, Burleigh, Coleridge-Taylor & Dett: Piano Suites (2022), received a Gold Star at the Music & Stars Awards.
Chung holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Seoul National University, a Master of Music and Professional Study Diploma from the Mannes College of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
