- Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of a French judge; active in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia for some years after moving to Australia in 1878 (2 years after having gained admission to the Conservatory of Paris); died in Paris, France where she'd moved in 1907. "Her father was a French judge, and her formative years were spent in a variety of countries, beginning with the United States. She took musical instruction from prominent teachers in Paris before moving with her family to New Caledonia, where her father was sent to become Chief Justice."
