He was born in Spain and learned guitar from his father. In 1912 he emigrated to Uruguay from where he moved to Buenos Aires in Argentine. Having gained fame there as a guitarist, he returned to Spain where he had activities as performer and composer. After the Spanish Civil War he moved again to America, and died in Buenos Aires in 1950.
