German musician, mainly active as teacher and Kapellmeister in various European cities (Vyborg, Liverpool, London, Riga, Aachen, Wurzburg, Hamburg, Leipzig). Composed piano music, songs, choral music and three operas, with moderate success. Only some of his short pieces for elementary piano teaching still survive (such as the Sonatina Op.30 No.1, aka Bolck's Five Note Sonatina).
