Belgian violinist and violist, native of Antwerp. He spent most of his life In Paris: studying the violin with Baillot in the 1820s, leading an opera house orchestra, and playing chamber music with Joseph Ancessy, second violin, Adolphe Blanc, viola, Desmarets and Sebastian Lee, cellos, sometimes with Saint-Saëns at the piano. From 1847 to 1851 he was conductor of an orchestra in Antwerp.
