Distinguished violinist and teacher. He founded the Frankfurt Museum Quartett in 1907, then in Munich from 1917 the Berber Quartet with his colleagues Valentin Härtl (Viola), Johannes Hegar (cello) and Anton Huber (1888-1966) (violin). His daughter Anita Berber (1899-1929) was a famous dancer and actress.
