Several sources give 1820 as birth year, but according to the marriage registration [
Paris 2me, 2 Sept 1852, view 41-48/51
] it is 1819.
Originally a single given name (Joseph), in later documents often double (Joseph-Jean or Jean-Joseph).
Brother of
Alexandre Batta
(1816–1902) and
Laurent Batta
(1817-1879).
