Jonas Bach was born in 1972 in Curitiba, in southern Brazil, into a family of Volga German descent, whose ancestors migrated from the Volga region in Russia to Brazil in the late 19th century. This cultural heritage instilled in him a deep appreciation for music, culture, and disciplined artistic practice. Jonas Bach is a professional musician and composer. His performance career spans a wide range of musical genres, including jazz, Brazilian popular music, samba, and choro, showcasing the versatility of the chromatic harmonica in both traditional and contemporary contexts. Jonas Bach has placed particular emphasis on exploring the classical music repertoire for the chromatic harmonica, often performing in duo with piano. In addition to his performance work, he has contributed to musical education through the publication of a textbook for learning the chromatic harmonica, aimed at fostering new generations of harmonica players. A self-taught composer, Jonas Bach has developed original works in classical music, combining his practical performance experience with his compositional vision, with a special focus on solo piano compositions. He holds a post-doctoral degree from the University of São Paulo, where he conducted research on the phenomenology of musical performance. His ongoing scholarly work continues to investigate aspects of musical performance, with several scientific articles published on the subject. In addition to his musical career, Jonas Bach is a professor of philosophy at the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), Brazil, where he teaches, conducts research, and engages with interdisciplinary studies that connect philosophy and the arts. Through his combined work as performer, composer, researcher, and educator, Jonas Bach bridges the worlds of practical musicianship, academic inquiry, and philosophical reflection, enriching both the chromatic harmonica repertoire and solo piano literature, while advancing the understanding of the artistic, cognitive, and experiential dimensions of music.
