M. Carbonel of Marseille published mainly short popular works (songs and piano pieces) from 1865 to 1910. Typical composers were Jules Chastan (1837—1909), Edmond Audran (1840—1901) and Gilles Borel.
In 1901, at age 64, Carbonel married the composer Cécile Chaminade (1857—1944), 20 years his junior, but died only 6 years later. They lived at different addresses.
