A piece of paper in one of Niemann's sketchbooks from 1932 lists a work called "Tangos, Op.124". The title is crossed out. Since the endings for both Canaria and Tango-Elégie (Op.170 No.1) are sketched out in another book from 1932, it is very likely that this work was intended to be a number of the aforementioned cycle. The years of publication indicate that "Tango Noble" and "Der gelbe Tango" might have also been part of Op.124. The reason why this cycle has never been published nor why Niemann abandoned the project remains unknown.
