Extra Information | *Since Broschi's brother Carlo (aka Farinelli) sang arias by Porpora in Artaserse it is probable that it is the same pasticcio, though Grove Music dates Porpora's Artaserse at 1721. RISM also has links to Hasse and Ariosti for the 1734 production of Artaserse. It is difficult to tell whether this is two different productions or the same one. Answer apparently: Artaserse was a co-production between at least two, perhaps all three of these composers. See Wikipedia article. - ES |
