RISM (see link above) describes this as an oratorio, though in other places it is described as an "opera" or a "Jesuit drama". Grove Music simply lists it as a "Stage" work. It was written when the Catholic church in Rome canonized the first two Jesuit saints, Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier. RISM lists 4 vocal soloists in addition to the chorus, and specifies the two unlabelled instruments in the manuscript as violin parts.
