The preface says "... Musicalischen Sachen, mit 2 und 3 Stimmen auff Violen zu gebrauchen, benebenst dem Basso Continuo ..."
Regarding the pieces with the title Ballo, "...der Discant mit unterschiedlichen Geigen in unisono kan gebrauchet werden"
Knoep also directs the reader to write in the semiquaver (16th note) rests (in the Paduanen), as the printer only had quaver (8th note) rests in stock: "... Weil auch die gedoppelte pausen dem Buchtrucker gemangelt, und in deren statt nun die einfachen gesetzet, so in den Paduanen zu sehen, solche geliebe mit der Feder selbst zu zeichnen ..."
