Grove Music lists "Le mari sans femme (com, 1, Montfleury), CF, 1702, airs in R (?1702)" under Gillier's dramatic works. These airs would have been incidental music for the play, and the printed music only gives the melody line in mensural notation, along with the words. It is known that Gillier provided orchestrations; Grove Music says "His orchestration is mainly restricted to strings, though music for special occasions or depicting an exotic situation may demand larger or more varied forces. . . . the parody of given in 1715 required eight violins, one contrabass, flute, oboe, bassoon, two horns and harpsichord." Accordingly, this is tagged for open instrumentation.
