A Thought for piano, dedicated to my former partner Anya. (A healer – not to be confused with my canine Queensland Heeler of a later period, both of which I remain extremely fond of.)
It is gentle in a sort of early turn of the (20th) century atonal way… has a sense of almost being improvised. There is motive throughout the piece of a minor 7th resolving downward – a very poignant series of pitches, tried and true, as was (is) Anya. A lovely encore piece, por ejemplo.
