This was one of my first pieces written.
I based the entire piece on the opening arpeggio which I came across in a piece I was learning from piano lessons. Hearing this suspended chord, I was amazed. The chord had a fantasy-like feel and whisked me away off to another land. At this age, I was helplessly addicted to video games which stirred my imagination. I particularly liked fantasy adventure games like the Nintendo Zelda series. After playing around with the left hand keeping the fantasy feeling going, I heard a high pitched voice to add to it. This “speaking” became the melody. The voice made me think of the fairy’s encountered in my adventure games. As I continued the piece, the voice and seemed to be struggling at times, almost fighting to be heard. Putting everything together is how I came up with the title “A Fairy’s Last Words”.
