Auguste Cordier was a publisher in Paris, active from 1859 to 1903. Their main production was dance music (polka, mazurka, quadadrille, valse, etc.) for (small) orchestra or piano.
It should be noted that until 1863, the Bibliographie de la France only mentions the publisher as Cordier, from then on it varies between A. Cordier and Cordier.
The Bibliographie de la France 1857 (and only in that year) mentions 9 similar dance publications for orchestra by Cordier et Happey, Paris: this might be the same Cordier.
In 1886 Cordier acquires A. Provost, and in 1903 they are taken over by L. Billaudot.
Cordier's plate numbers appear in the format of A.C. ##, but apparently the numbering seems to have started (or restarted?) in the year 1883 . The score for Hélène by Ernest Cordier [1882] has plate A.C., without number.
