These six Lieder are a continuation of my desire to illustrate musically, poetical works by persecuted litterateurs, following up on the 6 previous ones (viz. Der Fernen Gesänge). Three of these Lieder have been arranged for viola and piano under the title Nachtlieder with titles taken from lines in each Lied.
