"The whole Congregational Body of Voices, Tenors & Trebles in Harmonic Unison, conjointly singing the MELODY, led by the Clerk of Precentor with a firm Barytonal Voice; - And - The MELODY Organiz'd (Harmoniz'd that is) by a small select Band of good Voices (Two Basses & One Tenor may be sufficient) skilfully singing by Note and attentively conchording both in time and tune with the Precentor. - Or, the Bass alone may be added and the Tenor omitted: but the Tenor alone must not be added without its Base."
