Seaman describes this work in detail , Nikolay Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov: A Research and Information Guide p.32-33: the first and third choruses were entered in a competition, and the third received an honorable mention. Date of composition and publication are there given as 1876.
Vorony (Raven flies to Raven) was also used as a song text by Nikolay Medtner (Op.52 No.2, 1929.)
