The Romances were originally published in 1846 by Troupenas under the title *Seven Romances*, Op. 7. The publisher had reserved the opus number 8 by publishing the Concerto in F-sharp minor as such. That same year, Schuberth & Co. (Hamburg) published the concerto as Op. 19. Consequently, Op. 8 was missing from Schuberth & Co.’s catalog, so they published the Romances divided into two opuses: Op. 7 (1846) and Op. 8 (1850).
