After drafting the Opus 38 songs, Rachmaninoff evidently gave to Nina Koshetz the pencil sketches to two “sacred” songs. After Koshetz died in 1965, her daughter Marina Koshetz (1912–2001) donated them to the Rachmaninoff collection in the Library of Congress in 1970.
