Anyone seen the original Curwen (Curwin???)/Schirmer? Several libraries claim copyright 1950, not ca.1950. (Definitely published in score and/or parts by 1950, reviewed in the July 1950 issue of Music and Letters. The c Edinburgh uses they also use for several scores which have copyright notices on the score, suggesting c means copyright, not ca.) Hopefully I'm mistaken as I doubt Merton would remove a copyright notice (then again, USA copyright law is a bit arcane and that is what it would affect, I believe.) (At Columbia U. New York USA, York University Libraries in Canada, British Columbia U. libraries, the British Library at St. Pancras, Edinburgh Library Scotland I think, and the U. of Auckland in New Zealand.)
University of Auckland copy - Curwen 93042, gives 1950 copyright date.
Composed 1886 according to the notes to an upcoming New York City April 1 2013 performance.
