Presumably the "Tom. IV. a." means something like, this is the fourth volume (WoO) of a larger set of works/opuses (like the École mélodique, which contains Opp.46, 30, 44, 25, and 31).

This does not appear to be a contralto arrangement of the first book op 40 Nouvelles leçons de chant, Op.17.
