Navigation etc.

  • There is an unnumbered canticle, Motet à la Ste Vierge (incipit "Vierge Marie priez pour nous") at the end of the 23 numbered canticles. The two possibilities are that this is a stray item and Canticle no.24 is missing, or that it is the 24th canticle, and the publisher simply forgot to number it. Since the page numbering is consecutive and there are no missing pages, it is more probable that this is the 24th canticle and that nothing is missing.
  • In the BnF scan (which seems to be the only copy worldwide), there are an additional 3 canticles. Since the canticle numbering starts over again on 1, as does the page numbering, and there are many blank pages in between the two sets of canticles, IMSLP has treated this as a separate work on its own page: 3 Cantiques (Lefébure-Wély, Louis James Alfred)
