This piece was interpreted by the singer and comedian Joseph Kelm (1802?-1882), whose best known success was Le Sire de Framboisy in 1855. It was performed at the Paris Eldorado music hall, which opened in 1858, and which specialized for a time in similar comic or farcical fare.
