| Extra Information | Adapted from Recorder/Flute and Strings version. This was originally written as a suite for treble recorder and strings in 1997. I have arranged it for oboe, cello and piano. I describe it as Pseudo-Baroque! The first 3 movements are a “French Overture”, with a slow opening and a faster second section, a Passacaglia (with a repeating bass line), and “Air” based on my previous setting of a mediaeval lyric “Alisoun”. The final two movements are : “Galliard”, a dance movement in variation form and the “Finale” which like the Overture is in 2 sections, the first fast and the second a reprise of the slow opening movement to round off the suite. |
