Navigation etc.
Schmelzer, according to Grove Music, favoured string instruments, so this probably has a more specific instrumentation. Also, there are works entitled "Sonata à 4" where the 4th part is continuo, which could be taken by 2 people, so there is no certainty that the original actually carries the title "Sonata à 6"; it is possible the arranger used that because they arranged for 6 parts. The original might be in Schmelzer's Sacro-profanus concentus musicus, which contains 13 sonatas for 2-8 instruments, but at the moment IMSLP has nothing to compare this with. Tagged for 5 open instruments for now, but obviously, title and tagging are both subject to correction.
