According to Grove Music, "What distinguishes this collection from all other French harpsichord music is the provision of alternative versions of the pieces. All but two of the dance movements are presented in a second version consisting of two treble lines and figured bass, and the book concludes with second harpsichord parts for five of the pieces and one additional gigue in two-harpsichord score."
