Dedicatee: from book on Erard, not actually clear whether Schaeffer or Erard is her "maiden name" ("in 1855, ... the day-to-day operation were managed by Antoine-Eugène Schaeffer (who had married one of Antoine Erard's granddaughters) ...- in 1889 (Madame Erard died 13 October 1889) ... the firm... passed to the Comtesse de Francqueville" (otherwise referred to as formerly Madame Schaeffer-Erard) "Madame [Camille] Erard's (Pierre Erard's widow's) niece and adopted daughter". If the dedicatee is the soon to be Comtesse de Francqueville, that would make her Madame Erard's adopted daughter.

Or, hrm, since Camille's ex-husband's name was Pierre, maybe we're just talking about Madame (Camille) Erard (d.1889) herself. Oh. Right. Best not to miss the obvious answer! - ES
