L.E.O. typeset specifies "1885" - not specified whether this is a composition or publication date/date-estimate. Nor does the typeset specify (for comparison/checking sake or any other) the reference, proximate or ultimate source of the typeset - that is, what source was used, and/or where the manuscripts (autographs/abschrift) can be found that are the ultimate sources of this work against which any other representations can be checked for accuracy. But ... *shrug* - Schissel
(Edit: Wiki03 typeset- which I ought to have also checked first, specifies "inédit", unpublished. ? I think I am mistranslating, as Smith ("Playing the Organ Works of César Franck", p.43) specifies that this work was published in 1885, in the collection "L'orgue de l'église".) It has included in a collection of Posthumous and "inédites" works by Franck but 1885 is before 1890, and so this is a bit confusing... either it is not the same Petit offertoire as in the 1885 collection, or it was included in that collection mistakenly; one or the other, or third, I misunderstand what inédit means...)
Note that the edition by Wiki03 has a rather bad error in the first bars (first 4 notes in the l.h. should be notated a third higher). Pierre Gouin's edition is correct. - Rob Peters
