| Marco Dell’Aquila — this piece is my transcription for classical guitar from lute tablature.
If you’re a guitarist, it’s worth knowing that he is an important figure in Renaissance lute music, and his other works are definitely worth exploring.
I decided to work on this transcription because this piece is musically different from many works I had heard before. It is characterized by an unusual and powerful chordal texture, which at times creates an almost medieval harmonic atmosphere. Because of this, the piece can sound — in modern terms — surprisingly metal-like in its intensity and color.
If you enjoy early music, this work will certainly catch your interest.
