Georg Gerson found the text in a collection of anonymous poems, Lyrische Bluhmenlese published 1778 by Karl Wilhelm Ramler. He was most likely not aware of the original poem consisting of 8 stanzas, published by Georg Greflinger 1651, see Hylas will kein Weib nicht haben
