Extra Information This compilation of 350 German (mostly catholic) hymns from the 17th to 19th century is partly based on the four-part choral harmonisations in the "Gesang- und Gebetbuch für die Diözese Trier" by Stephan Lück, Trier/Germany published in 1847 (as found in the the digital collection of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek München, Liturg. 1373 i) complemented by other contemporary sources. Keys have been adapted for the convenience of brass wind instruments. Where several harmonisations of the same hymn are included, the same key was preferred. Since Lück’s hymnal does not contain any preludes, preludes from other contemporary organ books (mostly the ones for the Catholic hymnal "Sursum corda" by W. Schrage, Paderborn, 1904 (ed. J. Cordes, source: Paderborn University Library) or the organ book by P. Piel on the Magnificat, Freiburg, 1892 (ed. J. Mohr) are supplemented. Introductions marked as "Intonations" are improvised from parts of the hymns without a copyright claim. A few of the hymns require larger brass ensembles as indicated in the register.
